About the Guide

Trying to decide how to work and do school at the same time? You’re not alone. A recent
U.S. Census showed that over 70% of college students are working a full-time or
part-time job, with one in five undergraduate students working at least 35 hours per
week year-round.

Achieving academic success while working and managing the rest of life is challenging.
That’s why Marymount University created this Guide to Working While in College. This
guide will tell you about some of the long-term benefits of working while in school, give
you some tips and tricks on how best to manage your school and work life, and describe
some jobs that are well-suited to college students.
