Nursing (BSN)

Marymount's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares nurses to be knowledgeable, skilled, and caring health professionals qualified to practice in the contemporary health care environment. Our graduates provide patient-centered quality care utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice. Laboratory and clinical experiences are provided to develop competence in the care of patients throughout the life cycle.

It is an exciting time to explore a career in nursing. Reports project a nursing shortage of 800,000 registered nurses by the year 2020. Marymount has a solid reputation for preparing knowledgeable, skilled, caring nurse professionals. Today’s nurses not only provide health care to people of all ages, but also educate patients and their families in preventive care.

The baccalaureate degree program in Nursing at Marymount University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, www.ccneaccreditation.org. The BSN program is also approved by the  Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Marymount

Marymount offers three ways to secure a BSN:

• a traditional four-year BSN program
• an accelerated BSN program available for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in another field, ideal for adult career switchers
• a hybrid online RN-to-BSN program- not accepting applications at this time

Students in the traditional and accelerated second-degree BSN programs take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), and Marymount is proud to report a first time pass rate of 94% and 96% respectively for 2018.

Marymount connects students with health care agencies and clinical sites throughout the Washington, DC, area, providing hands-on skills and preparing them for the challenges and rewards of this fulfilling profession.
